Here are 4 easy steps to the right routine :

1 Cleanse.
Regardless of her age, every woman needs an effective cleanser to remove excess oil, dirt, germs and makeup. Clean skin is healthier skin and makes the steps that follow cleansing more effective.

2 Tone.
Toner lotions or pads remove all traces of makeup, dirt or residue left over from cleansing. Use them as needed to help prime skin for the next step.

3 Treat/Moisturize.
Products that address skin’s special needs, like treatment serums, wrinkle fillers and correctors may be used as needed. Q: Do you need to use a sunscreen if you have dark skin or already have a tan?

A: Yes, everyone should use a broad-spectrum sunscreen all of the time when they are going to be out in the sun. Broad Spectrum means that you have protection from both UVA and UVB rays. UVB rays are the suns rays that cause sunburn, while UVA rays are the ones that cause more long-term permanent damage such as premature aging and potentially, skin cancer. Even people with deeply pigmented skin, who rarely burn, should use sunscreen.

Remember: A “base tan” is NOT a substitute for sunscreen either.

Q: Do you have to reapply sunscreen even if it says that it’s “waterproof?”

A: Yes. There are no sunscreens that are truly waterproof. They can however be water-resistant or sweat-resistant, which simply means that the product has a better staying power on the skin and is less easily dissolved and broken down in water or high moisture conditions. However, even with such formulations, you must still reapply the product every few hours or according to package instructions. IMPORTANT: All sunscreens should be reapplied after swimming or heavy sweating.

Q: How much time prior to sun exposure should sunscreen be applied?

A: Sunscreen should be applied liberally,15-30 minutes prior to sun exposure. Sunscreen takes time to be absorbed by your skin therefore you should apply it in advance. If you wait until you are already outside or until your skin shows signs of redness, the damage has already begun to take effect and you put yourself at risk for a sunburn and future skin damage resulting in premature aging.

Remember: Never skimp when it comes to sunscreen – always be sure to apply generously to all exposed areas.

Q: Is it true that you can even get a sunburn on a cloudy day?

A: Yes, clouds don't block out harmful UV rays that can cause a sunburn, which means that your skin is still at risk. Consider this, UV rays can be reflected off of water, sand, snow, and concrete, which means you can even get a sunburn in the shade.

PERFECT AT-HOME PEDICURE FOR SUMMER

Step 1
Remove. Using a cotton ball or removal pad, strip old color from nails with nail polish remover. (Note: Don’t use a tissue, it tends to fall apart and doesn’t absorb the remover well.)

Step 2
Soak & Exfoliate. Fill a basin or your bathtub with warm water and add a skin softener such as Footworks Conditioning Foot Soak to moisturize feet and soften corns & calluses. Then massage them one by one with an exfoliating Scrub. We love Foot Works Thermal Exfoliating Scrub, water-activated self-heating scrub. Not only does it remove dry, rough skin, but it also warms tired aching feet. Ahhh….

Step 3
Buff. Dry your feet with a clean towel. Then, use a pumice pad or stone to help loosen dry dead skin. Rub in any direction, but don’t scrub too hard and never rub the top of your feet. Make sure to get your heel, the ball of your foot and your big toe. If you suffer from calluses, gently use a foot file to shave thicker patches of skin away. And remember, calluses are good so you need not make it your goal to remove them, just the superficial layers and build-up. Calluses are like a protective area on your feet. You don’t want to eliminate them.

Step 4
Trim. Cut nails with a toenail clipper, then file them to your length of choice. Run your finger across the top of your toe. If your nail barely grazes your finger, you’ve got the right length. As for shape, squared nails look more modern and prevent nails from becoming ingrown.

Step 5
Moisturize. Massage feet and legs with a rich cream such as Foot Works Overnight Renewing Foot Cream. It helps to smooth and soften skin.

Step 6
Soften. Apply a cuticle softener to nails to soften and revitalize rough areas. Try Nail Experts Cuticle Balm. It does the trick and leaves behind a refreshing citrus & lavender scent.

Step 7
Push. Use a cuticle stick to press cuticles back so they don’t get in the way of the polish.

Step 8
Polish. Apply a base coat first, then, apply two thin coats of your favorite polish. Finish with a topcoat if you haven’t used one yet. This will make nail color last longer.

Pale pastels and light shades act as a great base.

COLORS :

Plum eyeliner will enhance the gold flecks in brown, hazel or green eyes. Brown eyeliner makes blue and gray eyes look bluer.

If you find your lipstick color is too strong for you, apply a soft beige lipstick under your lip color to soften the effect.

If you need to go from daytime makeup to a more glamorous nighttime makeup in a hurry, simply apply a shimmery shadow over your matte shadow. Also, apply a lip gloss over your lipstick and you will be all set.

Never wear a foundation that is too dark or too light. It will look unnatural no matter how much you blend.

Try using brighter, bolder colors of lipstick and eyeshadow for evening wear. This will create a more dramatic look.

Change your makeup colors with the seasons. You can use brighter colors in the summer when you are tanned. Your skin is usually paler in the winter months, calling for slightly paler shades of makeup.

Save frosted eyeshadows for evening wear as they can emphasize wrinkles and lines in the eye area when worn in the bright light of day.

Feel free to experiment with different techniques and different colors until you find your own comfort zone. It can be a lot of fun playing with makeup and seeing all the effects you make with it.

Lips look fuller if you apply a touch of gloss over your lipstick.

Clean your makeup brushes and sponges regularly. The natural oils from your skin can cause colors to change if your applicators are not kept clean.

NAILS :

If you have bubbles in your nail enamel after applying it, then you have probably applied your top coat too soon. After applying color, wait at least 10 minutes before applying top coat.

Don't shake your nail polish before applying since this causes air bubbles. Instead gently roll the bottle between your palms.

Applying a nail hardener instead of a top coat will help your manicure last longer. Your polish won't crack if your nails don't bend.

To make nails appear longer, leave a narrow strip on each side of your nail without color. This gives the illusion of length to your nails.

FRENCH MANICURE? Cool Tip! To get that pink “tinge” from your base coat to create that French manicure look on your nails, add 3 drops of red nail polish to your base coat, shake and apply directly to your nails. Voila! A French manicure just like in the salons!
